Mercer Performance Training Website

Mercer Performance - Jake Mercer

Mercer Performance is a fully custom, high-performance fitness website built to showcase a fictional personal trainer while demonstrating my modern WordPress development and design capabilities. The project combines a bold visual identity, clean UX, and technical optimization to deliver a fast, conversion-focused user experience.

I designed the brand from the ground up — including the name, logo direction, color palette, typography system, and overall visual style. The site is built using WordPress, Elementor Pro, and Kadence Pro, leveraging a flexible container-based layout system and custom CSS to achieve a premium, athletic aesthetic.

A core goal of the project was real-world performance excellence, so I implemented advanced optimizations such as mobile-specific hero images, fetchpriority enhancements, selective image loading, accessibility improvements, and a custom plugin (“Elementor Accessibility Tweaks”) that fixes ARIA roles, Swiper issues, semantic labeling, and image prioritization across the site. The result is a site that routinely scores in the high 90s on Core Web Vitals, even with a strong visual design.

The site includes fully written, long-form fitness articles, structured program offerings, testimonial content, and a clean lead-capture system using a custom off-canvas “Get Started” form. The homepage is built around a storytelling flow — from hero message, to programs, to social proof, to the Mercer training philosophy — all culminating in a strong CTA optimized for conversion.

This project reflects my ability to concept, write, design, and build a complete brand experience from scratch. It showcases my approach to modern WordPress development: thoughtful UX, scalable structure, clean container-based layouts, and meticulous performance tuning on both the frontend and server side.
